'No-one should suffer as a result of doing their job'
This is just one of the reasons why people volunteer to support our work helping mitigate the impact of physical or psychological trauma experienced in policing.
“Nobody else helps cops like Police Care UK helps them with the effects of the job. I like to help people and I hate people suffering as a result of doing their job,” says Police Care UK Community Ambassador Garry.
“You get a warm feeling knowing you’re doing some good and you’re helping somebody. It keeps you giving back. It’s nice to be able to help.”
To mark the New Year, our Volunteering Team has launched four exciting new roles to help us deliver our vital services and increase our impact.
Covering aspects of fundraising, raising awareness and providing support to members of the police family in need, we’ve a range of opportunities for you to give something back to help those who provide our protection, safety and security.
In the past year, we have enabled over 4,000 individual psychotherapy sessions, delivered specialist clinical support, and provided over £90,000 worth of grants to those harmed through their role in UK police. But with you help we can do more.
How you can help
Whether you have an hour to spare or whether you can give more, we’d love you to be part of our team.
We’re looking for enthusiastic, responsible and personable Police Care UK advocates to fill our new Peer Support Volunteer, Collection Tin Co-ordinator, Awareness Stand Co-ordinator, and Community Outreach Research Volunteer roles.
These add to our existing stable of talented Speaker Volunteers and Community Ambassador Volunteers. Your contribution would not be valued more and here is why.
“It’s no exaggeration to say Police Care UK saved my life,” commented police sergeant Jon on our Facebook page recently.
“Their support and the counselling provided, set me on a road to recovery and understanding.
“Still a long way to go with my own journey, but I can wholeheartedly thank Police Care UK for being there at that crucial time in my life.”
