Self-support techniques after a traumatic incident

Policing is exciting, challenging and often dangerous work. It involves adjusting to everyday exposure, to incidents and situations that for most people might only happen once in a lifetime.

In partnership with the Police Federation of England and Wales, and Oscar Kilo, the Police Dependants’ Trust has created a guide outlining tips and ideas on how to better support yourself after a traumatic incident.If you are experiencing difficulties as a result of trauma impact (including investigative procedures) and you would like some support, the following contacts are available:
