UK Police Get Active Challenge 2020

Now more than ever, the health and wellbeing of our officers and staff is paramount for serving our community and looking after ourselves.

We’re asking every member and supporter of every force across the UK to join our Get Active Challenge this summer, to get moving, feel better and help support the national Police charity who do so much for us.

We are the charity for serving and veteran police officers and staff, volunteers, and their families who have suffered any physical or psychological harm as a result of policing.

What is the Police Get Active Challenge?

We want YOU to Get Active between 14th September and 31st October and raise vital funds for Police Care UK whilst doing it!

The Get Active challenge is a friendly inter-force competition for all the family! Pick your chosen force and Get Active, it's as simple as that.  All activity you do counts and is tracked on national leaderboards with individual and collective mileage and fundraising targets! Run, walk, cycle, swim, online/offline classroom, weights, dog walk, treadmill, anything goes except being sedentary! Challenge your force against others, compare and reward individuals, departments, organisations, regions and countries, the choice is yours!

Not affiliated with a police force? Just do it within your local area or pick the force that covers your favourite football team! It's up to you how you do it!

Fundraising is a critical part of this Get Active Challenge – half of your £15 entry fee is going directly to us to help us make sure both serving and former colleagues who suffer harm, and their families, have someone to turn to when things get tough.

  • The cost of entry per person is £15 with 50% of the fee going directly to Police Care UK!
  • Log your activity and share images on social media using #PoliceGetActive
  • Check the leaderboards and get the friendly banter going with friends and colleagues!
  • Collect your fabulous police medal and feel great about your achievement whilst helping others in policing!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to fundraise?

No you don't have to fundraise, this is completely up to you! There is an entry fee for the Get Active Challenge of £15 payable on signup. 50% of each sign up comes to Police Care UK so we are just happy to have you on board and joining the Challenge. Any fundraising you do is a bonus and is completely optional!

Do I have to be in the police?

No! Everyone and anyone is welcome to join the challenge! There is no requirement for you to be in the police or connected to the police in any way.

You will be asked to choose a force to represent but which one is completely up to you. If you are in the police then we encourage your force to sign up, but you can still participate as an individual.

Do I have to set a target or goal?

No. Some people might want to set a goal to work towards, but others might just want to log activity as they go. There is no set way to follow this challenge, it is YOUR challenge! Walk, swim, run, cycle, yoga, dance, dog walking... We don't mind what you do, just Get ACTIVE!

Which force should I choose to represent?

You can choose whichever force you want to represent. You might choose one that you work for, or volunteer for. It might be that you have a friend or relative that works in policing and you want to support their force! Or you might want to choose the force area that covers your hometown or favourite football team! However you want to support, it is totally up to you!

How do I log my activity?

It's super easy! Participants need to use the Get Active website or App (coming soon) to log all activity. We encourage you to share your achievements on social media and use the hashtag to encourage the friendly competition!

How is the different activity converted so that there is a like for like comparison?

Each activity logged has a point score calculated by a built in activity algorithm' There is an overall leaderboard for the highest point scores across all activities, but there is also a separate leaderboard per activity, so we will then see the top in running, cycling etc!
