Too many people are suffering in silence because they don't know that confidential support exists.

That has to change.

If you can give an hour a month, you can help your colleagues get the help they need

Police Care UK exists to reduce the impact of harm on police and families, by providing a confidential programme of specialist support for serving and former police officers and staff, volunteers, and their families.

We are the independent charity caring for colleagues in need across England and Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, helping around 5,000 people per year. But there are more who don't know that they can access help with physical and psychological injuries in confidence.

Police Care UK provides practical, emotional, and financial support thanks to donations and fundraising - we receive no Government or police funding for what we do.

What does a Police Care Champion do?

A Police Care Champion is an employee or volunteer who takes action in the workplace to raise awareness of physical and mental health problems, challenges the way people think and act about mental health, and helps signpost people to the support available from Police Care UK.

Anyone can be a Police Care Champion, whether or not you have personal experience of physical or mental health ill-health.

Champions raise awareness of mental health and help break down stigma in the workplace. How you do this is completely up to you, and we provide regular support materials, resources, and toolkits to help you. Every activity, no matter how big or small contributes to the central goal of improving awareness that help is there, that it's ok not to be ok, and that ill-health is not a sign of weakness.

Who can be a Police Care Champion?

If you:

  • care strongly about challenging the stigma, discrimination and negative stereotypesassociated with physical, psychological, and emotional health
  • have an hour or so a month to take on some anti-stigma activity (we'll be helping you with this through our featured campaigns)
  • Are willing to help people understand how they can look after their mental health and wellbeing
  • Want to spread the word about what support is available from Police Care UK

Then you can be a Police Care Champion
