Police Care UK helps serving and former police officers and staff, volunteers, and their families, get the practical, emotional, and financial support they need in a confidential and safe environment.
We believe that police and families should always have someone to turn to that understands their situation and can respond effectively to their needs. By providing a specialist and confidential programme of practical, emotional, and financial support, we help more people effectively recover and rebuild their lives.
We provide practical, emotional and financial support to anyone who has been harmed as a result of their policing role. This may be physical injury and/or psychological harm, but it must be linked to your policing role.
We support serving officers, staff and volunteers, as well as veterans, and family members of serving and veteran personnel.
Our service is intended to complement NHS services and those provided by police forces via Occupational Health and their Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). You will be asked if you have you approached the NHS, your Occupational Health Services team or EAP service. If you are still serving in a police force, you may be redirected back to your force provision in the first instance.
Unfortunately we will only be able to provide support to cases where it is clinically appropriate to do so and there are some instances where it may not be helpful for you to receive therapy, even for job related circumstances. For example, residential psychological, addiction or private treatment. This is something we will discuss with you at the time of referral.
More information is available in our FAQ webpage.
You can access our support by completing our online referral form in our Get Help page.
We accept individual referrals and referalls on behalf of someone, although in the case of the latter you must have consent to do this. We will contact the individual directly and you will not be notified of any progress on their case.
