Let's beat PTSD together!

On 27th of June, as part of our PTSD Awareness Month, why not organise a walk and raise money to support our work? Every step can help support police and their families, who are living with trauma and help us to beat PTSD.

Why we need your support?

Every day, police officers, staff, volunteers, and their families face the physical and psychological impact of working on the frontline.

On average, every 10 minutes a police officer is assaulted in the UK

1 in 5 police suffer from PSTD

Every two weeks a police officer dies by suicide

As an independent charity that receives no government funding, we are here to ensure the policing family are never left to cope alone when life gets tough. But we cannot do this work alone, without the compassion and care of our supporters.
Your generosity helps us be there for the policing community when physical injury, psychological trauma, or financial strain make everyday life overwhelming.

All you need to know about Walk the Beat event

“Walk the Beat”, is Police Care UK annual fundraising event dedicated to providing trauma therapy for police officers harmed through their policing role.

On 27th of June police officers and police staff, veterans, volunteers, their families, friends, and public supporters come together to raise vital funds to help those battling Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Every step we take brings us closer to better understanding trauma and ensuring those affected get the support they need.

We invite our supporters to sign up to receive a series of emails to help you plan your fundraising and plan your walking bit.

Walk the Beat will take place on 27th of June 2026 (PTSD awareness day) – or any date that works for you during June.

The idea is that anyone, anywhere, at any ability and any age can take a part in a walk and help us to raise money for the charity.

We ask that everyone sign up if they want to take part as this will give you access to a series of emails containing ideas and inspiration for routs you can take and help with fundraising. It will also help us understand the number of people who will be taking part this year.

Once you organised a walk, you can open the Just Giving page. It takes less than 5 min to set it up, easy to share with friends, family, colleagues. Alternatively, you can use the collection tin. Please let us know where to sent it by emailing to [email protected].

Your support will help transform the life of someone in the policing family impacted by trauma through a policing role:

£25 would pay for an hour of a clinician’s time

£50 could contribute to ill-health retirement support

£100 funds a session of trauma therapy.
