Volunteering FAQ’s

We understand that as volunteers you may not be able to commit to regular volunteering, so we aim to make our roles as flexible as possible therefore most of our roles don’t require a minimum commitment. Please do get in touch to chat about the roles available and the commitment required.

You must be over 18 to volunteer with Police Care UK.

There is a basic requirement for some mandatory training appropriate to your role. You will also have access to a bank of courses you can attend for your own personal development.

Some of our roles require a basic DBS check and any costs incurred will be reimbursed.

Volunteers must not have unspent criminal convictions, be subject to any criminal registers or orders. And you must tell us of any convictions that arise while volunteering for us.

Costs should never be a barrier to volunteering and we do not want anyone to feel restricted by financial demands. All travel costs and any other reasonable expenses will be reimbursed in line with our Volunteer Expenses Policy.

We will have an informal suitability chat with you when you apply and discuss any skills you currently have. Full training and resources will be provided and access to other training for your personal development.
