Police Care UK has agreed a new service delivery agreement with the Police Federation of England & Wales to deliver welfare and psychological support for its representatives.
The exact terms of the agreement, to be confirmed at this week’s Federation Annual Conference, are still to be finalised, although services are expected to go live in January 2027.
Director of Operations Tracy Hampson is leading the project and believes the agreement, which includes the provision of psychoeducation, is a chance for the two organisations to work more closely together.
“I am delighted Police Care UK has been awarded the contract to provide welfare and support to Police Federation of England & Wales representatives,” she said after the tender process concluded last week.
“This represents a fantastic and exciting opportunity for our two organisations to work together in collaboration to support Federation reps who have been negatively impacted by their role.”
PFEW national board member Belinda Goodwin added: “We are delighted to be working with Police Care UK on this important initiative.
“Federation representatives dedicate a huge amount of time and emotional energy to supporting members, often dealing with complex and sensitive issues.
“By providing specialist welfare and psychological support for our reps, we are investing in their wellbeing and ensuring they have the support they need to continue supporting members effectively.”
The Police Federations’ two-day Annual Conference on October 21-22 welcomes more than 600 delegates and attracts senior representatives from Government and the Home Office, as well as practitioners, police decision-makers and key policing stakeholders.
Police Care UK provide specialist clinical therapy and financial assistance to those police who have experienced psychological or physical harm in their policing role.
