Gift Aid FAQs

Gift Aid allows charities to claim an extra 25p for every £1 donated, at no extra cost to you.

To qualify, you must be a UK taxpayer and have paid enough Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax during the tax year to cover the amount of Gift Aid claimed on your donations.

For example, a £10 donation allows us to claim an extra £2.50 through Gift Aid. You must have paid at least £2.50 in qualifying tax during that tax year.

If the tax you have paid is less than the Gift Aid claimed on your donations, HMRC may ask you to pay the difference.

Gift Aid can only be claimed on donations of your own money. Donations collected from others, or made on someone else’s behalf, are not eligible.

To enable us to claim Gift Aid, simply complete a Gift Aid declaration in writing or through our online donation form.

When donating online or by post, we will ask whether your donation(s) are eligible for Gift Aid.

To make a Gift Aid declaration, you must provide:

  • Your full name
  • Your full home address
  • Confirmation that you would like Police Care UK to claim Gift Aid on the donations covered by your declaration.

You can withdraw your Gift Aid declaration at any time and please let us know if your name, address, or taxpayer status changes so that we can update our records.

Send a declaration by post.

To withdraw your permission to stop Gift Aid claims on your donations, simply let our Fundraising team know by emailing us at [email protected], or write to us at:
