A crack team of Police Care UK staff members and volunteers will put their money where their mouth is when they take on the iconic National Three Peaks Challenge in less than three months.
Team Police Care UK aim to cover 26 miles of rough terrain by scaling Ben Nevis (1,345m), Scafell Pike (978m), and Snowdon (1,085m) in just 24 hours on June 6, to make a powerful statement of solidarity with our policing community.
Head of Fundraising Vlada Penlington, Management Accountant Pavithra Wickramasinghe, Finance Assistant Gajana Greben and Police Care UK volunteer Phil Dusczcyk are already in training as they attempt to summit the three peaks inside the specified time limit.
Over the next few weeks we will be introducing you to our team as they bid to raise more than £3,000 for Police Care UK and our work mitigating the impact of physical or psychological harm experienced in UK policing.
For some of the team, it is a chance to test themselves in support of those who face pressure, trauma and sacrifice in policing to provide our protection, safety and security.
For others, it is more personal.
“When I was diagnosed with Complex PTSD, the help I needed wasn’t easy to get to until I found Police Care UK,” says Greater Manchester Police officer Phil.
“They helped me get through what was one of the toughest times in my life and I’m now in one of the best places I’ve ever been.
“The National Three Peaks Challenge has always been on my bucket list, and being able to do this while raising vital funds for the charity makes it so much more important to me.”
Every pound raised helps us deliver life-changing specialist trauma therapy and financial assistance to those in the police family living with the impact of physical or psychological harm experienced in their policing role.
