Applicant Declaration

By submitting your application, you confirm that:

  • You are applying for the grant(s) listed in your application
  • You have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions
  • All the information you’ve provided is true and accurate to the best of your knowledge
  • You understand that all grants are awarded at the Charity’s discretion
  • You will tell us about any changes in your circumstances that could affect your application or any grant awarded
  • You understand we work with other police charities to avoid duplicate funding, and you agree that basic details of your application and any grant awarded may be shared for this purpose
  • You understand your information will be kept confidential and handled in line with UK data protection laws

Standard Terms and Conditions of Grant

How Decisions Are Made

· Grants are awarded at our discretion
· Our decision is final
· Not all applications will be successful
· Receiving a grant once does not guarantee future funding

How Grants Can Be Used

· Grants must only be used for the purpose agreed
· We do not provide funding to repay debts such as loans or credit cards
· If your plans change, you must contact us before making any changes

Keeping Us Updated

You must let us know if:
· Your circumstances change
· Your contact details change
· You receive funding for the same purpose from another source

Payments

· Where possible, we will pay suppliers directly
· We are not part of any contract between you and the supplier

Timeframes

· Grants should usually be used within one year (unless agreed otherwise)
· You must tell us if there are delays or changes

Unused Funds

· Any unused money may need to be returned

Any unused money may need to be returned

Repayment of Grants

We may ask for some or all of the grant to be repaid if:

· The terms are not followed
· False or misleading information is provided
· Important information is withheld
· Duplicate funding is receiv

Home Improvement Grants (£20,000 or more)

If you receive a large grant for home improvements:

  • You must not sell or rent out your property for 3 years
  • We may place a restriction on your property with the Land Registry
  • If you don’t own the property, you must get permission from the owner
  • You agree to help with any required Land Registry processes

 

If You Are in an IVA

If you are in an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA):

  • You must inform your Insolvency Practitioner (IP) about your application
  • A grant may affect your IVA terms
  • We cannot advise you on this — please speak to your IP
  • We may ask for basic confirmation that you have informed them

Not telling your IP could affect your eligibility or result in changes to your grant.

Privacy Policy

Police Care UK is responsible for your personal data.

We may collect:

  • Your contact details (name, email, phone number)
  • Information about your family (if relevant)
  • Your policing background
  • Financial information (income, bank statements)
  • Details about your grant application
  • Health information related to your injury
  • If you don’t provide this information, we may not be able to process your application.

Most information comes from you, but we may also receive it from:

  • Other police charities
  • The person applying on your behalf
  • Health professionals (with your consent)

We process your data because:

  • It’s needed to manage your application and grant
  • We have a legitimate interest in ensuring funds are used properly
  • We are a not-for-profit organisation supporting those affected by policing

We may share your data with:

  • Other police charities (to avoid duplicate funding)
  • Professional advisers (e.g. auditors, legal advisors)
  • Regulators or authorities where required
  • Health professionals (with your consent)
  • Fraud prevention organisations
  • We will only share your health information with your consent.
  • Your data is stored securely
  • We only keep it for as long as necessary
  • We may keep it longer if required for legal reasons

You have the right to:

  • Access your data
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion (in certain cases)
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Request transfer of your data
